The Los Angeles Clippers have traded All-Star Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets. In return for the point guard the Clippers receive forwards Sam Dekker and Montrezl Harrell, guards Patrick Beverly and Lou Williams, and a 2018 first round draft pick. This trade is somewhat interesting for the Rockets because it forces them to move James Harden back to the shooting guard position after a terrific year at point guard. For the Clippers it gives them more depth at key positions they would not have otherwise have had the Clippers let Chris Paul’s contract expire. This sets up Los Angeles well for the future, however the possibility that they resign Blake Griffin has gone down. The Clippers are entering a new era as they are losing their core three players of the past few years in Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. The Rockets on the other hand are trying to provide more help and support around their star player James Harden. This trade should have major playoff implications and will change the landscape of the NBA over the course of this season.
